Jingletown Condos – 3090 Glascock Street in Oakland

Jingletown Condos at 3090 Glascock Street Oakland are one of those condominium communities that many East Bay buyers discover almost by accident. People may start their search looking in Jack London Square or Alameda, but once they drive through Jingletown they often realize this neighborhood has a personality all its own. Harborwalk offers modern construction, waterfront access, and a location that feels removed from the pace of downtown while still being only minutes from everything.

Jingletown is one of Oakland’s oldest neighborhoods, and its history is part of what makes living here different. Long before condominiums were built along the estuary, this area was home to Portuguese immigrants who worked in the nearby mills, warehouses, and canneries. The neighborhood earned its unusual name because workers were said to walk home on payday with coins jingling in their pockets. Whether every part of the story is true hardly matters anymore because the name has become part of Oakland history.

For much of the twentieth century, Jingletown was an industrial neighborhood. Factories, warehouses, railroad lines, and shipping businesses occupied much of the waterfront. As industry slowly left Oakland, artists began moving into many of the old industrial buildings. Over time, warehouses became studios, galleries opened, and new housing followed. Today the neighborhood still feels authentic. It has not been polished into looking like every other waterfront development in the Bay Area. There are murals on buildings, small local businesses, longtime residents, and people out walking dogs along the estuary every evening.

Harborwalk was completed in 2005 and remains one of the newer condominium communities in the neighborhood. The building offers secured access, elevators, underground parking, landscaped courtyards, and floor plans that still compete well with much newer construction. Many units have balconies, open kitchens, large windows, and enough separation between living spaces to make working from home practical.

One of the biggest advantages of living here is simply being able to walk outside. The Oakland Estuary is only steps away, and the Bay Trail has become one of the neighborhood’s best features. Whether you enjoy walking, running, biking, or simply sitting by the water, it is hard to find many Oakland condominium communities that provide this type of waterfront access without paying a premium.

Recent sales show there continues to be steady demand for Harborwalk. During the past two years, eight homes sold in the community with prices ranging from $416,500 for a one bedroom condominium to $650,000 for one of the largest four bedroom residences. The average sale price was approximately $556,000 with a median sale price of $547,500. Homes averaged about $444 per square foot, although price per square foot varied depending on floor plan, updates, and location within the building.

The community offers a nice variety of floor plans. One bedroom homes measure about 806 square feet while the popular two bedroom layouts range from roughly 1,023 to 1,252 square feet. Buyers looking for more space can also find three and four bedroom homes of approximately 1,842 square feet. That variety helps attract everyone from first time buyers to families who want more room without leaving Oakland.

One thing buyers often appreciate after spending time in Jingletown is how convenient the location really is. Alameda is only minutes away across the Fruitvale Bridge, Jack London Square is nearby, Interstate 880 is easily accessible, and Oakland International Airport is a short drive away. It is possible to enjoy a quiet waterfront neighborhood without giving up access to the rest of the Bay Area.

I have always thought Harborwalk appeals to buyers looking for something with more character than a typical condominium complex. You are not simply buying a unit. You are buying into one of Oakland’s oldest waterfront neighborhoods, one that has managed to preserve its history while continuing to evolve. That combination is becoming harder to find throughout the East Bay.
