Union City condos and townhomes

Union City has become one of the East Bay’s best values for condominium and townhome buyers, offering affordable homeownership, excellent commuter access, and a growing selection of well-maintained attached-home communities. Ideally located between Fremont and Hayward along the Interstate 880 corridor, Union City provides convenient access to Silicon Valley, the Peninsula, Oakland, and San Francisco via BART, the Dumbarton Bridge, and major freeways. Buyers searching for Union City condos for sale are often attracted by the opportunity to purchase more home for the money while remaining within commuting distance of many of the Bay Area’s largest employment centers.

Union City’s condominium and townhome market offers a wide variety of communities built from the early 1970s through newer developments completed in the 2000s. Popular neighborhoods include Mission Village, Monte Vista, Bridgepointe, Sugar Springs, The Arbors, Copa Del Oro, Devonshire, Edgebrook Manor, Downtown Estates, Villa Alvarado, Villa Peralta, and the newer condominium residences near Union City BART. Many communities feature attached garages, private patios, swimming pools, greenbelts, walking paths, and professionally managed homeowners associations, making them attractive to first-time buyers, young professionals, downsizers, and investors alike.

The attached-home market has remained remarkably active over the past two years despite higher mortgage interest rates. During that period, 84 condominiums and townhomes sold throughout Union City with sale prices ranging from $299,000 to just over $1.02 million. The average sale price was approximately $565,000, while the median sale price was approximately $517,500, illustrating Union City’s position as one of the more affordable condominium markets in southern Alameda County. Homes averaged approximately 940 square feet, with a median size of 903 square feet, while the average marketing time was only 30 days and half of all homes sold in just 23 days or less.

Pricing has remained steady across most communities. The average condominium and townhome sold for approximately $604 per square foot, with a median of approximately $602 per square foot. Entry-level one-bedroom condominiums generally sold from the upper $300,000s into the mid-$400,000s, while the majority of two-bedroom homes traded between $450,000 and $650,000 depending on size, condition, and location. Larger three-bedroom townhomes and newer developments regularly sold between $700,000 and more than $1 million, providing buyers with a broad range of housing options.

Mission Village continues to be one of Union City’s most active condominium communities, with updated one- and two-bedroom homes consistently attracting buyers because of their central location and affordability. Sugar Springs and The Arbors remain popular for their larger floor plans and community amenities, while Monte Vista commands some of the highest prices in the city with newer construction, attached garages, and contemporary layouts. Bridgepointe also remains a favorite among commuters because of its convenient location near Interstate 880 and the Dumbarton Bridge.

One of Union City’s greatest strengths is value. Buyers are often able to purchase larger condominiums and townhomes at substantially lower prices than comparable homes in neighboring Fremont while maintaining convenient access to many of the same employment centers. This combination of affordability and location continues to support steady buyer demand, particularly among first-time buyers and commuters working throughout Silicon Valley and the Peninsula.

Whether you’re purchasing your first home, looking to downsize, or searching for an investment property, Union City offers one of the East Bay’s strongest values in attached housing. Its diverse condominium communities, convenient transportation options, and relatively affordable pricing continue to make Union City an increasingly attractive choice for buyers seeking low-maintenance homeownership in the San Francisco Bay Area.
